Disaster risk reduction mechanisms to be discussed at conference in Yerevan
In light of the 25th anniversary of the Spitak Earthquake, Yerevan will host a two-day international conference on “Public Awareness as an Important Precondition for Disaster Risk Reduction” on 3-4 December. As the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations reported to “ArmenPress”, the goal of the conference is to recap the best international experience in providing awareness about emergency situations, the exemplary values that have been created and organize a discussion on future developments. The event will bring together international organizations involved in the sphere, foreign experts, officials, news correspondents, well-known journalists with experience in working in disaster zones and representatives of large news agencies.
The conference will begin with welcoming remarks by RA Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan, Deputy Head of OCHA Rudolph Muller and Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Trayan Hristea.
The conference is being held by the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations and Emergency Wave Information NGO on the sidelines of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction of the Republic of Armenia.
