Dr. Haig Utidjian becomes honorary member of Department of Philosophy at Charles University

During the session of the Academic Board of the Department of Philosophy at Charles University in Prague, principal conductor of the University’s choir and orchestra, Dr. Haig Utidjian was granted the diploma of an Honorary Member of the Department.

Orer.eu writes that Haig Utidjian has become the first Armenian scholar to receive such an award. In 2001, he accepted the invitation of the University’s rector and established a choir and orchestra that he has been directed ever since and has managed to make it become internationally recognized. In 2016, the alumnus of the Universities of Cambridge and London defended his doctoral thesis in the field of musicology in the Department of Philosophy at Charles University.

Dr. Haig Utidjian has been conducting long-term research in not only musicology, but also philology and theology. He also collaborates with the Universities of Copenhagen and Munster and has received several grants from the Department of Philosophy at Charles University.

Haig Utidjian has received the Komitas Medal of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia and the Hakob Meghapart Medal of the National Library of Armenia for his large-scale activities in the field of Armenology.

Haig Utidjian is also a deacon of the Armenian Apostolic Church and actively takes part in the holy masses served at the Armenian church in Prague.
