Advisory board under RA Minister of Diaspora holds subsequent session

The advisory board under the RA Minister of Diaspora held a subsequent session on November 29. The session was moderated by RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan.

Chief of Staff of the RA Ministry of Diaspora Firdus Zakaryan presented the plans for events stemming from the speech by RA President Serzh Sargsyan during the sum-up of the activities carried out by the RA Ministry of Diaspora over the past five years and the RA President’s Decree NH-277-N dated 22 October, as well as the process of planning events for increasing knowledge of and disseminating the Armenian language, preserving the Armenian identity and disseminating the Armenian culture, the “Armenian Family” Program and other programs.

Head of the Department of All-Armenian Programs at the RA Ministry of Diaspora Atom Mkhitaryan delivered a report on the activities carried out within the scope of the “Our Greats” Program in 2013 and the names of great Armenians to be included in the 2014 “Our Greats” Program.

Head of the Department for Repatriation and Research G. Arshakyan presented the list of topics for research with conditional (based on topics) funding to be provided by the RA Ministry of Diaspora in 2014.

Head of the Department of Media and Public Relations E. Baghdasaryan delivered a report on the activities carried out over the past year.

Baghdasaryan presented the statistics for the coverage of programs organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora by the media in Armenia and abroad, the outcomes of the journalists’ courses that are part of the “Diaspora Summer School” Program and talked about issues related to the ministry’s policy on information.

RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan mentioned that there is a need to specify the strategy for working with media outlets in Armenia and abroad. “We need to work harder to provide citizens of Armenia with access to information about events taking place in the Diaspora,” the minister said, adding: “More news and analyses in different categories must be prepared and posted on the “Hayern Aysor” electronic newspaper and in the online library of the RA Ministry of Diaspora.”
