Travelblog covers Artsakh as a tourist attraction

Travelblog.lv, the famous travel blog near the Baltic states, has dedicated an extensive article to Artsakh, paying attention to the fact that it is attractive for tourists.
The article is entitled “Rest in a Non-Existent Country: The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic”.
“The Switzerland of the Caucasus-this is how the internationally unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is referred to. Forty percent of the mountains of Artsakh (this is how the Armenians refer to the NKR), which is located in Transcaucasia, are covered with forests,” writes the author of the article, stating that even though the country is politically and economically isolated and has a territorial dispute, the government has actively started developing the tourism sector.
“Over the past decade, the number of foreign tourists interested in Artsakh has grown by more than four times, and 16,000 tourists visit Artsakh every year,” the blog states, emphasizing that the wealthy compatriots living abroad have helped build hundreds of kilometers of roads, rebuilt and erected schools, hospitals and residential districts and renovated architectural monuments for the purpose of restoring the region.
The blog states that entry into the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is only possible via Armenia. “When you enter the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, you will be greeted by a couple of generous servicemen who will ask you to show your passport and register in Stepanakert which, as it became clear later, takes only 10 minutes and is only necessary for statistics,” writes the author.
The author presents the capital Stepanakert with a population of 53,000, the “We and Our Mountains” monument, Gandzasar Monastery, Tigranakert and the archaeological excavations that are carried out there, Shushi as the symbol of the liberation struggle and independence of the Armenians of Karabakh, Jdrduz, the “Little Umbrellas” mini-waterfall, Dadivank Monastery and more. The author also doesn’t miss the “Zhengyalov Haats”.
“The world’s leading presses have confirmed that Artsakh is attractive for tourists. Among those presses is The New York Times with its article entitled “Warm Reception in the Caucasus”. The Guardian has included the NKR in the list of the best countries to visit for a summer vacation, the author concludes, reported Artsakhpress.
