On February 19, the national cultural center in the Estonian city of Tartu hosted an event dedicated to International Mother Language Day, gathering representatives of the Armenian community of Tallinn, guests from the Sunday schools of various national minorities, the municipality, the Mashtots Armenian Sunday School and the “Yerazank” (Dream) Music Ensemble.
As reported the community to Hayern Aysor, the already traditional event devoted to the Armenian language is celebrated with the support and under the sponsorship of the city of Tartu. The schoolchildren performed the songs composed by the Armenian children’s beloved composer Hripsime Khrimyan and the composer’s new songs devoted to each letter of the Armenian alphabet (the new songs were performed for the first time). During the event, they also recited poems and participated in interesting trivia games devoted to the history and significance of the creation of the Armenian alphabet. The guests and participants got very happy when they tried to repeat tongue twisters. The event ended with performances of traditional Armenian folk dances by all the participants.
