Diaspora Ministry employees participated in event dedicated to International Mother Language Day
Armenian schools in Armenia and abroad continue to hold events that are part of the weeklong events dedicated to International Mother Language Day. On February 22, School #78 of Yerevan hosted an event that was held under the title “Our Language is Our Homeland” and with the participation of Head of the Department of All-Armenian Programs at the RA Ministry of Diaspora Gagik Gyanjumyan, Head of the Division for Relations with Armenian Communities of countries in Central Asia of the Department of Armenian Communities of the CIS Anahit Zohrabyan and head of division Anahit Manukyan.
As reported Hayern Aysor, the event had begun on February 19th (birthday of Poet of All Armenians Hovhannes Tumanyan) when, according to the School’s tradition, the teachers and children donated books to each other. This time, the fourth graders and their homeroom teacher had also decided to donate their “self-made” booklets (“Riddles”, “Fables”, “Armenian Proverbs”, etc), and they had designed and illustrated them.
The event was particularly dedicated to International Mother Language Day and featured performances by the 4th-6th graders (teachers: Grigoryan, Nahapetyan).
Gyanjumyan greeted the participants of the event and presented the programs of the Ministry of Diaspora. Principal of the School Haikuhi Simonyan informed that she has been participating in the “Ari Tun” Program as a host family for the past two years and voiced hope that other teachers of the School would join her this year. Simonyan expressed the desire to establish sister relations with an Armenian school of the Diaspora, particularly a school of the Rostov Oblast or Samara, the children of which she had the opportunity to host.
