International observers say the people of Artsakh continue to fight for their freedom and independence

The February 20 referendum for the draft of the Constitution of the Artsakh Republic was held with the participation of 103 local and 100 international observers from nearly 30 countries, as well as over 80 mass media representatives.

On February 20th and 21st, after the vote ended at the polling stations, the delegations of the observation missions and individuals organized news conferences at the press center of the Central Electoral Commission during which they gave evaluations on the referendum and on the fact that it is a major political event. There were also those who made statements.

The first to speak at the press center of the Central Electoral Commission for the February 20 referendum in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was the representative of the Moldovan Republic of Transdnester. The next day, in the early hours of 21 February, the delegations of the European Parliament, Bolivia, the Armenian National Committee, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, the European Friends of Armenia, Russia, Germany, Austria, Uruguay, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, the Land of the Basques (Spain), the USA and Canada gave press conferences. The observers attached importance to the referendum as further evidence of the strengthening of statehood and as a process of expression of free will of the people of Artsakh and democracy.

“Here in Artsakh I see progress and prosperity. Freedom and democracy first and foremost need to be protected. I am glad that the country’s authorities don’t spare efforts to raise the living standard of the people and develop the country,” delegate of the European Parliament Eleni Theocharous particularly said.

Overall, there was one common evaluation-the third nation-wide referendum in Artsakh was held without incidents and violations, and the people continue to fight for their freedom and independence.
