Purpik Puppet Theater presented Greedy Woodcutter play in Kulikam village of Akhalkalak

The Purpik Puppet Theater of the Vicariate of the General Prelacy of Javakhk gave a unique performance at the school in Kulikam village of Akhalkalak region on November 18.

As reported by the press divan of the Vicariate of the General Prelacy of Javakhk to “Hayern Aysor”, the students of Artur Gharibyan Public School and the children of the village had the opportunity to see the high performing arts of Purpik’s actors as the puppet theater presented the play “Greedy Woodcutter” at the school in Kulikam village.

The performance made the children laugh and ended with warm rounds of applause.

Purpik Puppet Theater was established in 2004 by Liana Khloyan and Prelate of the General Prelacy of Javakhk, Archimandrite Babgen Salbiyan. After visiting Akhalkalk and seeing the poor conditions of the local Armenians in 2001, the theater’s director decided to move to Javakhk and dedicate himself to the creation of a puppet theater with the purpose of helping advocate the Armenian Apostolic Church and bringing people closer to the Christian faith and the Mother Church through the theater’s performances.

The actors of Purpik Puppet Theater are students of Armenian schools in Akhalkalak who study at different universities in Armenia. The plays of the theater are House of Mher, The Greedy Woodcutter and Birth of Jesus.

Purpik Puppet Theater has performed in Tbilisi and has toured Armenian villages of Akhalkalak.
