Ambassador Mkrtchyan meets with Lebanon’s Prime Minister Saad Hariri

On February 6, Ambassador Samvel Mkrtchyan had a meeting with Prime Minister of Lebanon Saad Hariri, reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hayern Aysor.
Congratulating the Prime Minister on his appointment and forming a new Cabinet, Ambassador Mkrtchyan touched upon the existing historic ties between Armenia and Lebanon, the age-old friendship between the two nations and the high-level political relations.
The Ambassador attached importance to the enhancement of economic and commercial relations and the promotion of tourism for the complementarity and strengthening of those relations and emphasized the importance of organizing mutual high-ranking visits on a regular basis.
The Ambassador presented the current investment opportunities in Armenia and the reforms that the Government of the Republic of Armenia has undertaken to make it easier to do business, as well as simplify and specify the procedures.
The positive experience of Lebanese companies doing well in Armenia and the need for popularization of that experience were touched upon.
The sides stated that the tourism sector has been expanding over the past years and the fact that the cooperation between the two countries in that sector is prospective.
Prime Minister Hariri also attached importance to the need for promotion of economic relations between the two countries, expressing willingness to give preference to the development of relations with Armenia within the scope of activities of the Lebanese government and promising to make efforts in that direction.
The sides also discussed the opportunities of convening the subsequent session of the Armenian-Lebanese Inter-Governmental Commission this year.
