Apo Torosian’s short documentary on his visit to his father’s native village of Edinchik has sparked the interest of one of the lecturers at San Francisco State University, Professor Carol Purtram, who assumed office in the Austin branch of the University of Texas for a year.
In her letter to Torosian, the professor praised the documentary and mentioned that she would try to conduct a study on Armenian pilgrims visiting Historic Armenia during her term in office at the University of Texas by using such documentaries, as well as videos, memoirs and other materials from the pilgrimages to Western Armenia led by Armen Aroian. The professor also informed that she has also participated in seven of the pilgrimages led by Aroian.
Purtram also wrote that even though she’s non-Armenian (Purtram is of Jewish origin), like Torosian, she has also started losing Turkish friends and is concerned about visiting Turkey due to her studies.
