Our colleague Tevos Nersisyan has passed away

With deep sorrow, the RA Ministry of Diaspora reports that former Head of the Department of Armenian Communities of CIS countries at the RA Ministry of Diaspora Tevos Nersisyan has passed away after suffering from a heavy illness. He was 59 years old.

The administration and the entire staff of the Ministry mourn the death of their beloved colleague, a wonderful person, talented journalist and dedicated friend and express their condolences to his relatives at this difficult moment in time.

In April, Nersisyan would have turned 60. Throughout the years, Nersisyan made great achievements. He had hope for and faith in the future, had the willingness to and unconditional dedication to serve the Homeland and his nation. Wherever he was, be it in the Homeland or abroad, he would put all his efforts for the implementation of progressive ideas. Tevos enjoyed the love and respect of everyone because of his great human attributes, as well as diligence and dedication.

The brilliant memory of an active journalist, experienced lecturer, faithful employee and a close person will always stay alive in our hearts and in the hearts of those who knew him.

May the soul of Tevos be glorified because he has left a brilliant trace in the form of his several poems, full-length films and documentaries, as well as radio and television shows. May God be with his children, grandchildren and all of his other relatives.

Remembrance of the righteous shall be blessed.

Born on 14 April 1957 in the city of Jermuk of Vayots Dzor Province of the Republic of Armenia

Education

1973-graduated from secondary school of Tyopli Stan (Moscow)

1984-graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow Lomonosov State University

1990-graduated from the Department of Journalism of the Higher Partisan School of Rostov-na-Don (currently Northern Caucasus Management Academy adjunct to the President of the Russian Federation), specializing in political science and sociology

Work experience

Since April 1981, he has been a journalist for Armenian mass media outlets.

1981-88: worked as a freelance correspondent of the editorial office for Komunist newspaper and Russian programs of Armenian radio, correspondent of Komsomolets newspaper, senior editor of the Russian programs of Armenian Television, head of the Russian section of the main editorial office of programs broadcasting in the languages of the nations of the USSR

1988-90: worked for the television station of Rostov-na-Don

1990: took training courses at the television station of Leningrad

1990-91: served as a special correspondent of Respublika Armenia Russian-language newspaper

1991-93: established and directed the Svoboda Russian-language newspaper

In 1994, he was a correspondent for the Russian 2×2 TV channel

1995-97: served as head of department of information of Infocom CJSC

In 1997, he established the TOP News-Sociological Agency Ltd. (TOP Agency).

1997-2000: served as correspondent for Moscow’s ТВЦ TV

Since 2000, he was head of the Speech and Law legal-information NGO.

2004-05: worked as deputy editor-in-chief of Respublika Armenia Russian-language newspaper

Between 2005 and 2008 and between 2012 and 2014, he was the head of Moscow’s TOP Agency news-sociological agency.

2008-12: Head of the Department of Media at the RA Ministry of Diaspora

August 2014-June 2016: Head the Department of Relations with Armenian Communities of the CIS countries at the RA Ministry of Diaspora

Since 1986, he was a member of the Union of Journalist of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic.

1983-88: participated in the annual workshops and conferences organized by youth mass media outlets and the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University

In 1999, he participated in the international seminar/conference for journalists in Batumi.

He has published hundreds of essays and articles for Armenian and Soviet presses and has broadcast radio and television shows.

He has hosted dozens of television programs, including television programs devoted to the Armenian communities of Rostov-na-Don, Novorosiysk and Leningrad. He has produced full-length films and documentaries, including the films “Peace to your land, Afghanistan” (1988), “Karabakh, My Pain” (1990) and “Northern Avenue” (2002-08).

He was a reserve officer.

He had two children and three grandchildren.
