On December 24, Gavar State University hosted the 19^th annual conference, which was dedicated to the 80^th birth anniversary of honorable benefactor of Gavar State University Zhirayr Nishanyan.In the beginning, Rector of Gavar State University, Doctor of Law Ruzanna Hakobyan expressed her greetings to the lecturers and professors of the University and touched upon Nishanyan’s activities, expressing gratitude to the benefactor on behalf of the members of the GSU Academic Board, recipients of the Zhirayr Nishanyan Scholarship of all years and their parents, as well as the entire university-wide community.

During the plenary session, Mrs. Ruzanna Hakobyan delivered a speech entitled “Humanitarianism as a Universal Principle of Law”.

Afterwards, the conference continued in the professional divisions and subdivisions of the humanities (legal, philosophical, theological, historical, economic, philological, pedagogical, psychological sciences) and natural sciences (biology, ecology, geography, geology, nature protection, as well as chemistry, physics, mathematics and technical sciences).

The speeches presented at the conference will be published in the 19^th edition of the GSU Collection of Scientific Articles. Let us mention that the High Qualification Commission of the RA Ministry of Education and Science has recognized the collection of scientific articles of Gavar State University as an acceptable scientific periodical for publishing the results of scientific dissertations.

At the end, Mrs. Hakobyan, by the decision of the Academic Board, awarded GSU Professor Victor Katvalyan with a certificate of appreciation for his unforgettable merit in the establishment and development of the GSU Faculty of Philology and in the preparation of young linguists and literary critics, as well as for his active efforts in research and for the great contributions that he has made to the development of dialectology.
