Movsisyan’s victory helped Armenian chess players outscore their Hungarian opponents

Armenia’s men’s chess team won the Hungarian team 2.5-1.5 in the subsequent stage of the European championship, and the women’s team gave the Spanish team just half a point.

Vladimir Hakobyan and Gabriel Sargsyan tied their matches with Hudit Polgar and Thomas Banush respectively. Sergey Movsisyan didn’t give Joltan Almas any chance and outscored him at the 66th step with the black figures. The team’s leading player Levon Aronyan tied his match with Chaba Balog after a more than five-and-a-half hour match.

According to ArmenPress, Maria Kursova, Lilit Mkrtchyan and Elina Danielyan outscored their opponents in the women’s competition. Lilit Galoyan and Ana Matnadze were the only women players who tied their match. After this round, Armenia’s team went up to 4th place. The team now has 9 points. The leader is France with 11 points, followed by Azerbaijan with 10 points and Russia with 9 points. In the next round, the men’s team will be playing with the Russian team, which is one of the favorites of the championship. The women’s team is in 2nd place with 9 points. The table was headed by Ukraine with 11 points. The next team to compete with Armenia’s women’s team is the Polish team.
