Cross-stone commemorating Napoleon Bonaparte’s Armenian bodyguard unveiled in France

On November 26, a cross-stone commemorating the bodyguard of French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, Rustam Raza (real name Rostom Khachaturyan) was placed in the French city of Dourdan at the initiative of the Union of French-Armenian Veterans and Resistance Fighters led by Antoin Baghdigian.

As journalist for Paris’s Ayb Armenian Radio Angela Sahagian told Hayern Aysor, among the attendees of the opening ceremony were Armenia’s Ambassador to France Vigen Chitechyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of France Vahan Hovhannisyan, Chair of the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations of France Ara Toranian, Mayor of Dourdan Marivo Bogeni, as well as members of the Union of French-Armenian Veterans and Resistance Fighters and others.

The cross-stone was sculpted in Armenia and transferred to France with the support of the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
