Armenian delegate’s question upset Head of General Staff of Turkey’s Armed Forces

During the session of the Committee on Defense and Security held as part of the 62nd Sitting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Istanbul, Head of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces Hulusi Akar answered questions from the participants.
According to Takvim news website, Akar, touching upon Armenian delegate Koryun Nahapetyan’s observation that 26 countries have recognized the Armenian Genocide, recalled Galileo Galile, who in the 16th century declared that the world spins, while the whole world claimed the opposite.
“The whole world still denied the reality that the Earth spins. Consequently, no matter how many countries say it was genocide, that won’t change the reality that such a thing has never happened,” writes ermenihaber.am.
When Nahapetyan asked Akkar when Turkey would dislocate its forces from Syria, Akar stated that Turkey has no problem with Syria and Iraq in terms of territorial integrity. According to him, every commentary that Turkey is violating the territorial integrity of those countries is made with ulterior motives, if not a result of misinformation and lack of experience.
Akar addressed the Armenian delegate and said the following: “If a delegate is uninformed, then he has ulterior motives or is lying. There is no other explanation since the Turkish armed forces haven’t had anything to do with Aleppo. They haven’t even fired one bullet. If there is anyone who can say that Turkey has fired even one bullet at Aleppo, I will resign.”
According to Akar, Turkey will dislocate its forces from Syria and Iraq when the terrorism ends and the safety of the Turks is ensured.
Let us remind that Armenia’s representative Koryun Nahapetyan had addressed a question to Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu. In his response, the latter presented Turkey’s versions of the Armenian Genocide, blamed Armenia “for occupying 20 percent of the territory” of Azerbaijan, got confused and said the following: “What, I occupied Armenia? Excuse me, aren’t you the ones who have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan? Aren’t you the ones who have occupying Karabakh?”
