101st anniversary of Holy Archangels Mother Cathedral celebrated with splendor in Bucharest

On November 5, the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church celebrated Holy Archangels Day. For the Armenians of Romania, the 5th and 6th of November were days of joy and celebration since the 6th of November marked the 101st anniversary of the Holy Archangels Mother Cathedral (the Armenian Prelacy of Bucharest), and the Romanian-Armenians celebrated the anniversary with splendor. On Saturday, hundreds of pilgrims marched towards Bucharest to participate in the festivities and sacred ceremonies, as reported the press divan of the Armenian Diocese of Romania to Hayern Aysor.

On Sunday, November 6, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Romania, His Grace, Fr. Bishop Tatev Hakobyan served a Holy Mass, after which he performed a Requiem Service for the souls of the clergymen having served the Armenian Diocese of Romania to rest in peace and blessed the sacrificed lamb that was served in the churchyard. Among the attendees of the sacred ceremony were RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Romania Hamlet Gasparyan; President of the Union of Armenians of Romania, Senator Varujan Vosganian; deputy representing national minorities in the Parliament of Romania Varoujan Pambuccian; clergymen of the Diocese and hundreds of pilgrims from several cities across Romania, including Constanta, Pitest, Foksan, Tirku Ogna, Galatz, Bireila, etc.

Prior to the ceremony, representatives of the Armenian Diocese of Romania had distributed leaflets presenting the history and symbol of Holy Archangels Day (Fr. Priest Oshakan Khachatryan), the symbol of sacrificing lamb, the role and significance of the Armenian Church within the Armenian community of Romania (His Grace, Fr. Bishop Tatev Hakobyan). The attendees were also handed iconic images of Archangels Gabriel and Michael prepared through a donation from Araxi Negosianu.

At midday, the Armenian Diocese of Romania, the Union of Armenians of Romania and the Parish Council of Bucharest hosted a ��?dinner of love’ for over 300 pilgrims.

At the end of the festive event, Armenuhi Georgiu, Andronake Valentin and Hrant Papuchyan, who have been serving the Armenian Church and the Armenian Diocese of Romania for years, were awarded with writs of blessing for their self-dedicated services and love for the nation and the Church.

At the end, His Holiness gave his blessings to the pilgrims and wished that God accepted their wishes and made them come true, as well as keep the Armenian Church, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Armenia and Artsakh, the Republic of Romania and the Romanian people and all Romanian-Armenians strong.
