OSCE MG: Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan to meet in November

Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev will meet after a two-year interval. This is what the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs announced during their November4-5 visit to the region.

The OSCE press service has issued the following press release:

“The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group Igor Popov (Russia), Jacques Faure (France), James Warlick (USA) and Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Anjey Kasprzik traveled to the region November 4-5 to continue their efforts to help the sides find a peaceful resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. They had meetings with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on November 4 and President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on November 5 and discussed issues of importance for a settlement.

They also had meetings with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense of the two countries. The Presidents agreed to meet in November to clarify their positions and discuss the way forward.

The Co-Chairs will continue to work on arrangements for the upcoming high-level meeting. The Co-Chairs call on the sides to exercise restraint on the ground, as well as in their public statements. Military operations, especially at this moment, can only be seen as an attempt to damage the peace process.”
