Only MP having voted against Bundestag’s Armenian Genocide Resolution is no longer running

Germany’s Christian Democratic Union Party has not nominated MP Bettina Kudla for the upcoming parliamentary elections, as reported ermenihaber.am.

The Turkish pro-government Sabah newspaper reports that Kudla was the only Member of Parliament who voted against the Armenian Genocide Resolution put up for a vote in the Parliament (Bundestag) of Germany on 2 June.

In the first stage of the elections for deputy in the Leipzig-Nord precinct, Kudla lost to her two competitors, receiving 36 votes from the political party’s 126 delegates.

The source reports that the political party’s delegates are punishing Kudla for voting against the Armenian Genocide Resolution.

The political party has nominated 48-year-old Jens Lehman in Kudla’s precinct for the 2017 parliamentary elections.
