Hakob Poghosyan Scholarship essay contest winners receive their awards

The winners of the annual essay contest for the Hakob Poghosyan Scholarship (the contest was held at Tekeyan Center on October 12) received their awards during a ceremony held in the Hakob Poghosyan classroom of Tekeyan School #92 in Yerevan, as reported the Tekeyan Center to Hayern Aysor.
The initiative, which is dedicated to the memory of outstanding Armenian publicist, journalist, political commentator, editor of Nor Or newspaper and translator Hakob Poghosyan, was undertaken by his widow, U.S.-based Ani Poghosyan in 2002. The goal of the contest is to promote the excellence of students, encourage them to know the Armenian language and compose in the language, convey energy and enthusiasm to the students and provide them with an opportunity to show their knowledge through a healthy competition.
The topics of this year’s essays were “Armenia”, “With the Calling of Longing” and “The Language of My Prayer”. The participants were the school’s 8th and 9th grade students, six of which received financial awards for their best works. Those students were the following:

Astghik Ghazaryan (9th grade)-3rd Prize
Hasmik Karapetyan (9th grade)-4th Prize (encouraging)
Astghik Babajanyan (9th grade)-5th Prize (encouraging)
Lusine Babajanyan (8th grade)-6th Prize (encouraging)
