Hungary rejects Armenian Genocide resolution

The Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Hungary rejected the Armenian Genocide resolution submitted by the Green Party (LMP) of Hungary with votes from the Fiesz an Yobbik political parties, as reported Turkish presses, according to Akunq.net.
The resolution that 5 deputies of the LMP (Green Party) submitted to the 199-member parliament was rejected with the votes of the Fidesz Party (ruling party within the parliament’s foreign relations committee) and Zhobbik Party (considered the second largest political party in the country).
Issue has to be left up to lawyers and historians
In response to the resolution submitted by the Green Party, chairman of the foreign relations committee of the Zhobbik political party Marton Gyongyos informed that the issue needs to be left up to historians and mentioned: “It is wrong to introduce the national parliament of Hungary to a topic on which lawyers and historians need to make a decision. This is a very complicated topic. What concerns me is that they are presenting and expecting opinions on an event that took place 100 years ago and an event that even historians have different views. This should be left up to historians and international law experts.”
No need for such steps to garner votes
Drawing attention to the fact that certain political figures and parties are expressing wrong views on the matter, Giongionsi stated the following: “The statements of Pope Francis, other political figures or other parliaments don’t extend to the Parliament of Hungary. Such steps don’t need to be taken to garner votes. I believe parliaments should be act responsibly in such cases and not express any view. That is why we, as the Zhobbik Party, reject this resolution.
Among the participants of the meeting of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Hungary were Turkey’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Budapest Shakir Fakalin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan Vilayet Guliyev and Fadil Bashar, who is the representative of the Turkish Union of Independent Industrialists and Businessmen.
Last year, the Green Party submitted another Armenian Genocide resolution, which was rejected with the votes of Zhobbik once again.
