Today marks the 57th birth anniversary of Ashot Ghulyan (Bekor)

An event dedicated to the 57th birth anniversary of hero Ashot Ghulyan (Bekor) was held today near the plaque dedicated to the hero in Stepanakert.

In the beginning of the event, students of Ashot Ghulyan School #2 of Stepanakert recited poems, after which Ghulyan’s widow, relatives, friends-in-combat, military servicemen and other attendees laid flowers near the pedestal of the plaque dedicated to the participant of the Artsakh liberation struggle, member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun, commander of the first company of Stepanakert (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) and recipient of the “Hero of Artsakh” Order and the first degree of the “Cross of Combat” Order.

In an interview with “Artsakhpres”, the hero’s friend and fellow partisan, Deputy of the National Assembly of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Armen Sargsyan stated that Ashot Bekor was not one of the heroes who had done a heroic deed once and received the title of hero since he was a hero throughout his life.

“Bekor is an Armenian who left a legacy with his existence and actions, and we can constantly talk about that. Ghulyan is one of the Armenian heroes who was sincere, had an ideology and was patriotic. Those who knew him know that he was fair, courageous and had the ability to make the right and extraordinary decisions. He had innate values, and the times were such that they forced him to show those values. We are proud that we had a hero like Bekor,” Armen Sargsyan said.
