Head of “Aleppo” NGO says 100 Syrian-Armenians will move to Armenia before November

One hundred Syrian-Armenians will move to Armenia before November. This is what Director of “Aleppo” Compatriotic Charitable NGO Haiasa Tahmazian announced during an October 4 press conference, according to Panorama.am.

When the Armenian-populated districts of Aleppo were being bombarded last year, several Syrian-Armenians in Armenia addressed the organization with the request to help their relatives in Syria and provide them with one-way tickets to Armenia.

“The organization undertook the “Save a Life” program and received nearly 600 applications from Syrian-Armenians wishing to transfer their relatives to Armenia. Throughout the past year, we have been able to obtain funds to purchase 350 tickets since each ticket costs $500. Currently, 250 Syrian-Armenians have moved to Armenia through this program, and another 100 are expected to move before November,” the speaker said.

The organization has received more applications over the past two weeks. According to Tahmazian, many Syrian-Armenians want to come to Armenia, but can’t afford to buy a one-way ticket.
