TO REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ARMENIAN COMMUNITY OF ALMATY

Dear compatriots,

I cordially congratulate you on this wonderful event, that is, the opening of an Armenian Sunday school in Almaty.

In this difficult era of globalization when the culture, language and other vital assets of small nations are often at risk, we have great expectations from Diaspora Armenian organizations, benefactors and, of course, schools. It is known that school has played a major and multifunctional role in the lives of Armenians. It is not only a center for education, but also culture and religion, the guarantee for consolidation of the Armenians, as well as a haven for the dissemination of Armenian national vales and the preservation of the Armenian identity.

I hope this school takes advantage of most of its opportunities to accomplish big goals such as the preservation of the Armenian language, identity, culture, history and traditions and shows active participation in the Armenia-Diaspora partnership.

I thank all the parents who overcame many difficulties with time and distance and decided to provide their children with an Armenian upbringing by teaching them the Armenian language and the history of the Armenian people.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to the founder of the school Ernest Varderesyan, who took on the responsibility of carrying out this very important and appreciable task, as well as to all the teachers who consider the provision of an Armenian education and children to our children their major goal.

I would also like to thank the authorities of Kazakhstan for creating the favorable environment and atmosphere for the Armenian community of Kazakhstan.

Once again, I congratulate you all. To the Armenian school, I wish it prolific activities. To the students, I wish that they work hard and be devoted to the Armenian language. To all the Armenians of Kazakhstan, I wish welfare, prospertand consolidation around the Armenian community and Armenia.

I wish you all the best and good luck.

Sincerely,

HRANUSH HAKOBYAN
