Sasun sets ban on going out to streets in six villages, clashes between Kurdish and Turkish soldiers are expected

The regional governor’s office of the Sasun province of Turkey issued today a press release stating that the regional governor’s office has taken a decision on setting a ban on going out to the streets in nearly six villages of Sasun due to the special operations to be undertaken against Kurdish PKK soldiers. The six villages are the Ajar (Arkhund), Heybeli (Tandze), Umurlu (Talash), Chaghli (Helis), Balbash (Heribe) and Dereichi (Chaye Alo) villages.

It is stated that the ban will enter into force today at 17:00 and it is unclear as to when it will be lifted.

From March 1 to December 31, 2016, Sasun is declared a military zone upon the decision of the council of the council of the state of Batman.
