The final settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict depends on the political will of the parties.
This is what U.S. Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick told RIA Novosti on August 16.
According to him, the meetings of Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev held in Vienna and Saint Petersburg “conveyed new impetus to the process of negotiations over a broad settlement of the conflict.” “The important thing is that the presidents reaffirmed their commitment to a peaceful solution of the conflict through maintenance of the ceasefire regime on the Line of Contact. Besides, the recommendations that could restore peace between the sides were actively discussed,” Warlick said.
“We maintain optimism and believe that the Co-Chairs, with the support of high-ranking officials, will continue efforts to make progress in the settlement of the conflict this year. The peaceful and final settlement of the conflict depends on the political will of both parties,” the U.S. Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group added.
