Armenia will host the preliminary stage of the 2016-17 UEFA Footsal Cup play-offs for the first time ever.
From August 16 to 21, the Football Academy of Armenia will host the meetings of Group A, and Armenia will be represented by the footzal team of the Armenian State University of Economics, a two-time Armenian footzal champion.
In this stage, the Armenian footzal players will compete with Cyprus’s Hapoel team, Switzerland’s Footzal Maniacs team and Denmark’s Gentofte teams. Each of the participants is the current champion of its country and has quite a high position in the world footzal ratings.
Armenia was able to obtain the right to host the play-offs through the close cooperation between the Armenian State University of Economics and the Football Federation of Armenia, and the play-offs are organized with the support of the Youth Foundation of Armenia and the Student Council of the Armenian State University of Economics, as reported the Public Relations Service of the Youth Foundation of Armenia.
