Armenia has exported 85 percent of its fresh fruits and vegetables to Russia
At this moment, Armenia has exported more fresh fruits and vegetables than last year. This is what Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia Robert Makaryan said during a press conference. According to him, this year, Armenia plans on exporting up to 120,000 tons of fruits and vegetables. “At this moment, Armenia has already exported 85,326 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables. Last year, Armenia exported 76,700 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables, while it exported 49,800 tons the year before that. This means that we have recorded a sharp rise in exports,” the Deputy Minister said.
In terms of apricot exports, Makaryan stated that, in spite of pessimistic predictions, apricots continue to be exported. “We have almost reached the level that we had reached last year in terms of the exports of apricots. In this period last year, we exported 20,855 tons of apricots. Today, we have already exported 19,257 tons of apricots. The prices are quite high compared to last year,” Makaryan said, according to 168.am.
According to Robert Makaryan, most of the products (85 percent) have been exported to Russia (73,300 tons). Armenia has exported 7,400 tons of fruits and vegetables to Georgia, 4,270 tons to Belarus, 267 tons to Iraq and 60 tons to the United Arab Emirates.
