On June 11, Homenetmen Plovdiv Chapter celebrated the 95th anniversary of its establishment and the 25th anniversary of its reopening with a ceremony held in the yard of the Saint Gevorg Armenian Church of Plovdiv.
Among the attendees were Honorary Consul of Armenia in Plovdiv Yeghiazar Uzunyan; pastor of the St. Gevorg Church of Plovdiv Hrach Muradyan; Advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Bulgaria Nelly Matevosyan; Chairman of Homenetmen Central Committee Karnig Meguerditchian; Chairman of Homenetmen Bulgaria Tigran Partizpanyan, as well as members of the Bulgarian-Armenian community and Armenian scouts from Sofia and Varna.
RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan also sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the establishment and the 25th anniversary of the reopening of Homenetmen Plovdiv Chapter. “Throughout the 95 years of its existence, the Plovdiv Chapter has been trusted and respected by every Armenian with its principality, patriotic activities and pro-national initiatives aimed at consolidating all Armenians, especially the youth,” Hranush Hakobyan’s congratulatory message reads, according to Hayern Aysor.
“It was a great day. We had never organized such a grand ceremony. The event gathered about 200 guests. Our scouts had decorated the yard and organized the event. There were tricolor Armenian flags, as well as photos showing Armenian life, culture and history,” Advisor of Armenia’s Honorary Consul for Cultural Affairs Aghavni Gevorgyan told Hayern Aysor.
There were only Armenian songs and poems heard during the ceremony. “It was very nice to see all the children speak in only Armenian. You know how hard it is to have children preserve their native language in a foreign environment,” Aghavni Gevorgyan mentioned.
On the morning of June 12, pastor of the St. Gevorg Church of Plovdiv Hrach Muradyan blessed the scouts who had taken oaths.
