Document stating three Italian cities’ recognition of the Armenian Genocide handed during grand ceremony

The document stating the recognition by three Italian cities of the Armenian Genocide was handed during a grand ceremony held at the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia on May 26. The document was handed to Deputy Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Suren Manukyan by President of the Union of Armenians of Italy, Professor Baikar Svazlian.

Expressing gratitude to the RA Ministry of Diaspora for its active and fruitful efforts with the Armenian communities of the Diaspora, Professor Svazlian talked about the activities that the Armenian community of Italy is carrying out for the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and the elimination of the consequences and the achievements that it has made.

Deputy Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Suren Manukyan attached importance to the recognition by the authorities of the three Italian cities of the Armenian Genocide and emphasized that recognition is not an end in itself, but a strategy to prevent new possible genocides.

RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan highly appreciated the decisions taken by the Italian municipal authorities and stated the following: “I would like to express deep gratitude to the Armenian community of Italy, especially you, Mr. Svazlian, for your pro-national activities. The documents serve as evidence of the fact that the struggle of the Armenian nation will continue until we reach the ultimate solution to the Armenian Cause. I am certain that these documents will have their special place at the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.”
