Ultranationalist’s conviction inspiring – Turkish-Armenian MP

The Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Armenian member has commented upon the Supreme Court’s ruling to convict an ultra-nationalist over anti-Armenian remarks.
Garo Paylan (People’s Democratic Party) described the decision to sentence Tolga Adıgüzel to to six months in prison, with a pecuniary punishment of 11,240 Turkish Liras (over US$ 5,000) as very inspiring, the newspaper Hurriyet reports.
“Hate propaganda can beget crimes stemming from hatred. The outcome of the trial demonstrates that seeding of hatred never goes unpunished. And that’s very inspiring for all sides in terms of breeding peace in both the Armenians, and the Turkish society. We will continue the fight against racist crimes containing hate speech, seeking justice and working towards reconciliation,” he said.
