MFA: France urges parties to Karabakh conflict to fulfill commitments

The government of France welcomed the results of a meeting on the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh, French Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal said on Tuesday.

“France welcomes the results of the May 16 meeting on Nagorno-Karabakh in Vienna which allowed to resume the dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan after bloody clashes that occurred in the period from 2 to 5 April,” he said.

He noted that the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents agreed on the observance of the ceasefire and expressed their commitment to a peaceful settlement of the conflict. They also agreed to a series of measures, in particular the introduction of a mechanism for investigating incidents.

“These obligations are of great importance. France calls on the parties to comply with them and will continue to play the role of a mediator as a co-chair of the Minsk Group, together with its Russian and American partners,” Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
