President of the Union of Armenians of Sasun Aziz Dagji has appealed to the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Mush, complaining that the local Armenian cemetery is being desecrated. Based on the appeal, the judicial commission has examined the cemetery and has found that treasure hunters have drilled some areas, writes ermenihaber.am.

After the examination, Aziz Dagji issued a statement stating that the treasure hunters have drilled the Armenian tombs with the purpose of finding treasures and have thrown the bones of the deceased everywhere. The president of the Union has reminded that the cemetery is a general asset and is of great importance for the Armenian community and the Republic of Turkey.

Dagji has informed that an appeal has been sent to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism with the request for restoration of the Armenian cemetery.

“Let them put an end to the drilling at our cemeteries because there is nothing at our cemeteries besides the bones of our deceased, and we only bury our deceased with a bed sheets. You can’t find any material value there. The same goes for our monastic complexes. They shouldn’t destroy them.”
