The “Little Armenian of Karabakh” to represent Armenia at the 2016 Children’s New Wave Music Competition

Mikayel Grigoryan (Misha), who is known for his song “Little Armenian of Karabakh”, will represent Armenia at the 2016 New Wave Children’s Music Competition to be held at Artek Center in Crimea this summer.

Mikayel Grigoryan won the sympathy from the jury during the semi-final held in Moscow and made it to the final to be held from August 11 to 13.

In a recent interview with BRAVO.am, Misha’s producer, Lira Kocharyan said she had continued to work with the little singer in Stepanakert even during the first days of the Artsakh war in April because their goal was to make it to the final and show the world that “Artsakh remains standing, is strong and even the war can’t suppress the will of the people of Artsakh and weaken their spirit.”

Misha, 7, was born to a family of musicians. His father is the conductor of the military orchestra of the Defense Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, and his mother is a music teacher at a kindergarten. Misha attends Primary School N 3 of Stepanakert. He is the youngest of the family and has two siblings. He also takes violin lessons and improved his musical skills when he joined the “Voices of Artsakh” club where he learns and communicates with singers who are older and more professional than him.

According to the producer, Misha amazed everyone with his courage and self-confidence on stage during the pre-selection stage. The producer also informed that Misha’s father wasn’t able to accompany his son in Moscow because these days the men of Artsakh are defending the homeland.

We wish Misha success at the 2016 Children’s New Wave Music Competition.
