Commemorative poster commemorating Armenian Genocide unveiled in Marseille

On April 19, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, a commemorative poster commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide was unveiled in the official hall of the building of Bouche-de-Ron regional council at the initiative and with the participation of president of the council Martin Vasal, as reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hayern Aysor.
Among the participants of the event were Deputy/Mayor of Sector 11-12 of Marseilles Valerie Buaye, Mayor of the Sector 9-10 of Marseille Lionel Rouaye-Pereau, Deputy Mayor of Marseille Didier Parakian, Chair of the Southern Council of the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations of France (CCAF-SUD) Simon Azilazian, heads of local self-government bodies, the Consul Generals of several countries accredited to Marseille, consuls, politicians, leaders and representatives of community organizations, Armenian, French and other public and cultural figures and members of the local Armenian community.
The speakers stated that the international struggle for recognition of the Armenian Genocide will continue until Turkey’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the adoption of a law on criminalization of the denial of genocide. The speakers drew parallels between the Armenian Genocide and the latest large-scale attacks unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh, during which Azerbaijani forces targeted settlements and peaceful civilians, including children and the elderly. The speakers also stated that Azerbaijan’s barbaric acts against Nagorno-Karabakh remind one of the genocidal acts of Turkey where the criminals would condition the selection of their target with national belonging.
Let us mention that a similar event commemorating the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was also held in the city of Bouc-Bel-Air. On April 15, the Consul of the Republic of Armenia participated in the unveiling of a poster dedicated to the Armenian Genocide posted in the façade of the building of the municipality along with Mayor of Bouc-Bel-Air and member of the France-Artsakh Friendship Group Richard Mallié, Deputy Mayor and president of the local Armenian organization Edmond Eytedjian. Among the attendees were representatives of local authorities, leaders of non-governmental organizations, members of the local Armenian community, citizens of Bouc-Bel-Air and others.
