RA Minister of Diaspora receives Director of Armenian Communities Department of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation

On April 21, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Director of the Armenian Communities Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Razmig Panossian.

The sides discussed the practical steps that need to be taken to solve the issues raised during the “From Humanitarian Aid to Sustainable Solutions” workshop, which was held in Yerevan on 24 February and was devoted to the facilitation of integration for persons having been displaced and having settled in Armenia as a result of the Syrian conflict, as well as the opportunities for coordinating the activities in that direction.

Mr. Panossian informed that the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation would continue to partially reimburse the tuition for Syrian-Armenian students pursuing their studies at Armenia’s universities and would send two experts to work for the secretariat of the Inter-Agency Commission on Coordination of Syrian-Armenians’ Issues.

Expressing gratitude to Razmig Panossian for his willingness, Hranush Hakobyan stated that it was necessary to focus on solving social problems and problems with education and housing, as well as developing and implementing strategic programs in a coordinated manner.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed issues related to the situation created in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the opportunities for cooperation in carrying out programs promoting preservation of the Armenian identity and several other programs that will contribute to the development of Armenology.
