New interpretation of Pertch Zeytuntsyan’s drama “All Rise for the Judge”

On April 16, the Mher Mkrtchyan Theater Company of Tekeyan Cultural Association presented Pertch Zeytuntsyan’s drama “All Rise for the Judge” at Hakob Paronyan State Musical Comedy Theater in Yerevan. Among the attendees were RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, Rector of the Armenian State Pedagogical University, President of the Central Board of Tekeyan Cultural Association Ruben Mirzakhanyan, the play’s author Pertch Zeytuntsyan, other state officials, intellectuals and artists. The theater company’s tour is sponsored by RA Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.
The theater company was established in 1977 in New York. The artistic director is Zhirayr Papazian, and the company’s list of plays includes nearly 20 plays that star Harout Parsumian (Soghomon Tehleryan), Karnig Nersesian (Taleat Pasha), Hagop Vartivarian (Hovhannes Lepsius), Armenak Gurushian (Henry Morgenthau, Fayez Al-Hussein) and others.
The actors are not professional, but their performance was very professional due to their dedication and their awareness of the importance of their roles. The play was presented to a packed audience. The play ended with warm rounds of applause. RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan presented the welcoming remarks of the RA Minister of Diaspora. The Minister’s speech particularly reads as follows: “Presenting this drama is becoming more symbolic during these difficult days for the Armenian nation as the enemy is trying to disturb the peace once again. It goes to show once again that the spirit of the Armenians is unwavering and that the Armenians are just, rebellious and will defend their rights. I thank the author of the play, our living classic Pertch Zeytuntsyan, the director of the play Zhirayr Papazian and all the actors for this wonderful performance.”
Afterwards, RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan read the order of the RA Minister of Diaspora on granting a certificate of appreciation of the RA Ministry of Diaspora to the Mher Mkrtchyan Theater Company of New York and handed the certificate to the artistic director.
