Hripsime Khurshudyan becomes European champion
Hripsime Khurshudyan became champion at the 2016 European Women’s Weightlifting Championship.
After lifting 250 kg (113+137) in the biathlon, the bronze medalist of the London Olympic Games won first place in the superheavyweight category of the European Women’s Weightlifting Championship, which is drawing to an end in Norway. Khurshudyan was the best in the snatch and jerk drills. She surpassed her Georgian opponent Anastasia Hotfrid by one kilogram in the biathlon.
Armenia’s other athlete in this weight category was 17-year-old Arpine Dalalyan, who won 6th place after lifting 213 kg (93+120) in the biathlon.
For the first time in the history of the Armenian national women’s weightlifting team, the team outscored the other teams and won first place.
