Evening dedicated to the Armenian language
On 20 February in St. Petersburg in the Library of national literatures A. S. Griboedov was held a cultural evening dedicated to the Armenian language.
In the beginning of the program, Gorana Buturovich threated with welcome speeches from library.
The Chairman of the Regional public organization «The Armenians of St. Petersburg» Alexander Nazarov presented to the participants attention a report about the history of the Armenian alphabet and the biography of Mesrop Mashtots, the Creator of the alphabet.
Researcher of St. Petersburg state University Olga Smetannikova, who visited Armenia in 2015 prepared a video presentation about the unique «Garden of letters» in Oshakan village and shared her impressions about Armenian culture.
At the end of the evening, Tamara Smirnova historian and ethnologist, noted the importance of maintaining of national languages for multinational culture of St. Petersburg.
The event was organized by the Regional public organization «The Armenians of St. Petersburg» in partnership with the Library of national literatures A. S. Griboedov.
