Senior Advisor to the RA Minister of Defense: “God created us Armenians, obliging us to serve Armenia”

On February 14, Senior Advisor to the RA Minister of Defense and founding president of “Hayk” Scientific Research Institute Babken Vardanyan met with students of “Hayordats Toon” Armenian School of Moscow.

In the beginning, Babken Vardanyan, who has lived abroad for over 42 years, said in case of living conditions, Armenia is the best country to live in. He added that he simply had to talk with the youth about religion since he was at a spiritual center.

“Although you live far away from Armenia, you can help yourselves, your children, grandchildren and your souls, which is the most important. You can help your homeland and God through service. God created us as Armenians, obliging us to serve Armenia, the Armenian people, and God will take that as a service to him,” Babken Vardanyan told the youth, adding that there are two things that are limited for us, that is, time and energy. Wisdom lies in using those two the right way and not leaving today’s work for tomorrow.

When asked how one should fight against the internal enemy, Babken Vardanyan said very often we notice another person’s flaws and forget about our own, but we need to start with ourselves and we will win.

“We often hear people say that Armenians are a nation that doesn’t like following the rules. I must assure you that that is not the case. Due to my job, I often visit military units. If only you saw the discipline and courage of the 18-20-year-old soldiers and how dedicated they are to their military ranking. It is thanks to that discipline that our boys win, even though our enemy has an advantage in terms of number,” Babken Vardanyan mentioned.

When asked how likely the senior advisor to the RA Minister of Defense considers the start of a large-scale war, the speaker first answered with a question. Do you want to be enlisted as volunteers? We expect to engage volunteers. But don’t think that that has to do with the likelihood of the start of another large-scale war. In response to the question, I must say that nobody can give a definite answer to that question. We aren’t guaranteed. That’s why the only thing left to do is to always be ready for a war. That will help keep us away from the likelihood of a war as much as possible.”

When told that many Armenian youth want to settle in Armenia, but have quite a hard time finding a job, Babken Vardanyan only noted that every young Armenian needs to act by his or her conscience.

At the end, the spiritual superintendent of the “Hayordats Toon” Armenian School, Father, Priest Arakel Amiryan expressed gratitude to Babken Vardanyan for visiting and answering questions from a religious perspective.

P. S.: Christianity teacher of the Armenian Apostolic Church Ashot Avetisyan was translating from Armenian into Russian for the Russian speakers during the meeting.
