Woman injured during attack on Istanbul-Armenian family’s home checked out of hospital
Seda Aida Demirji, who was hospitalized after thieves attacked the home of an old Armenian couple in the Shishli district of Istanbul, has been checked out of the hospital.
As reports Agos Armenian Weekly, on February 6, the home of Turkish-Armenians Hagop Yakup Demirji and Seda Aida Demirji, which is one of the streets on Cumhuriyet Street of Shishli, was attacked by three individuals who robbed precious items in the house, but tied the couple in a way known as “a pig lock”, allowing one to assume that the incident is a crime committed on the ground of hate.
The couple’s worker sounded the alarm about the incident when she paid a regular visit and noticed that nobody was answering the door. Hagop Demirji had suffocated after being tied up, and his wife was hospitalized.
After being checked out, Seda Demirji was transferred to her cousin’s house.
Police have initiated an investigation to examine the crime and clarify the identities of the criminals. Video recordings have been investigated.
