AGBU Europe’s A Europe of Diasporas Project Launches International Photography Competition

AGBU Europe, Phiren Amenca and the European Union of Jewish Students are proud to announce the launch of a photography competition in conjunction with their A Europe of Diasporas project. The competition seeks to find the best photo to illustrate the life and legacy of the Armenian, Jewish, Roma and Assyrian diasporas in Europe and help place Europe’s diasporas on the map.

A Europe of Diasporas is a first step towards establishing of a network of diasporas in Europe. This network aims to help affirm the notion that diasporas have been part of the European story for many centuries and are an asset for Europe. It also promotes the idea that diasporan identities need not be tied to a territory or to a source of authority to be legitimate and valuable.

The competition is open to entrants ages eighteen years and older, regardless of their country of residence. Submissions must be made directly to the website www.europeofdiasporas.eu. The winning entrant will win a GoPro camera and will have his/her photo exhibited at the European Parliament.

To enter the competition:

1. Follow A Europe of Diasporas on Facebook.
2. Before March 31, 2016, upload a photo to http://europeofdiasporas.eu/ that shows a place, person or moment that makes you feel strongly about Armenian, Jewish, Roma or Assyrian identity.
3. Name the photo, pin the location in Europe and briefly tell its story.
