Turkey has announced that it will resend its ambassador to the Vatican after having recalled the ambassador following Pope Francis’s use of the term ?genocide’ last year, reports Agence France-Presse agency’s correspondent from Ankara, according to Tert.am.
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the decision comes after the Vatican issued a statement welcoming the fact that in 2005, for the first tie, Ankara expressed willingness to create a commission of Turkish and Armenia historians ?to examine the events of 1915’.
“In this context, a decision has been made to send our ambassador Mehmet Pacaci back to the Vatican,” the ministry’s spokesman Tanju Bilgic said.
Let us remind that during the Holy Mass dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide at the St. Peter’s Basilica of the Vatican, Pope Francis said that ?the Armenian Genocide is the first genocide of the 20th century’.
