Baku expresses discontent with OSCE Minsk Group’s activities

The official Baku has overtly expressed its discontent with the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and is sending letters of protest about that to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the co-chairing countries, reports APA news agency, according to Artsakhpress.

“We are discontent with the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs,” Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammedyarov declared, viewing the letter that the Co-Chairs sent to the PACE stating that the intermediary mission for settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict only belongs to the Minsk Group and that steps causing harm to the negotiations over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement should be avoided as ?ridiculous’.

He said the OSCE Minsk Group has not been able to achieve any progress in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict since the day of its establishment.

“Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity has to be restored. We demand that the Minsk Group work in this direction. The Azerbaijani lands are occupied. Three permanent members of the UN Security Council are leading the Minsk Group, but in spite of that, no progress has been made. The letter that the Co-Chairs sent to Strasbourg is ridiculous. I have sent letters of protest to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the co-chairing countries. In those letters, I have stated that making any issue related to Nagorno-Karabakh a current issue is our personal matter. Nobody can interfere. They can’t pressure European parliamentarians. That’s illogical,” he said, touching upon the statement that the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs issued ahead of the discussion on the drafts of the two anti-Armenian resolutions in the PACE.

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs also reported the absence of any news about possible meetings with the Co-Chairs.

“I don’t think a meeting is possible after they sent the letter to Strasbourg,” he said.
