Anna Melikyan’s film “About Love” wins Golden Eagle Award

Russian-Armenian film director, screenwriter and producer Anna Melikyan’s film “About Love” won an award for Best Film at the Golden Eagle Movie Awards, which were held at MosFilm Studio yesterday, reports TASS, according to Panorama.am.
There were five films presented in the Best Film category, including Dmitry Meskhin’s “Battalion”, Anna Melikyan’s “About Love”, Stanislav Govorukhin’s “End of a Wonderful Era”, Alexander Mindadze’s “Dear Hans, Dear Pyotr”, Sergey Mokritsky’s “Battle for Sevastopol”.
Anna Melikyan wasn’t expecting to receive the award for Best Film. She came out without hiding her amazement.
“I wasn’t expecting it. I haven’t prepared,” the director said, adding that there were many serious films and great patriotic films and that it didn’t cross her mind that her “short, happy film” would win.
“This is a beautiful act. Let us live with love. Let us be happy to live,” the director said.
President of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia Nikita Mikhalkov read the name of the winner in the Best Film category, and when he opened the envelope, he could only say one word, and that word was ��?amazing’.
The annual Golden Eagle Movie Awards, the winners of which are determined by the National Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Russia, has been held since 2002.
Let us mention that Anna Melikyan’s film “About Love” received the grand prize at the 26th “Kinotavr” Film Festival in 2015. Melikyan’s film stars a star-studded lineup of contemporary Russian actors, including Renata Litvinova, Yevgeny Tsiganov, Yulya Snigir, Ravshana Kurkova, Maria Shalana, Alexander Bortiv and others.
