On January 29, Australia’s newly appointed Ambassador Joe Hockey handed his credentials over to U.S. President Barack Obama.
In December 2015, Hayern Aysor had informed that the U.S. had announced the name of the new Ambassador of Australia to the United States of America and that Australian-Armenian Joe Hockey’s nomination had been confirmed by Australia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop.
Before September 2015, Joe Hockey had held the office of Minister for Financial Services of Australia for two consecutive years. The Australian-Armenian minister is known in Australia’s political field for his vast knowledge of economics and active contacts with the U.S.
As Hayern Aysor had reported earlier, Joe Hockey was awarded with the Gold Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora during the annual banquet hosted by the Armenian National Committee of Australia at Miramar Banquet Hall in Sydney on December 4, 2015.
Joe Hockey’s father is Richard Hokeidonian, and his mother is an Australian.
