Local and Syrian-Armenian youth celebrated St. Sarkis Day together

On January 22, over 100 young Armenians gathered to participate in the “Saint Sarkis Patron of Love” event organized by the World Armenian Youth Network (WostAYN) and ALEPPO Compatriotic Charitable Non-Governmental Organization.

During the event, pastor of the Saint Gevorg Church of Noragavit, Priest Vardan Gapoyan presented the symbol of the celebration of Saint Sarkis, the patron of youth and love, after which the youth had a chance to ask their questions of concern.

Since the event mainly featured songs and dances, local and repatriate youth had the opportunity to perform songs and dances together. They performed the dance of Kessab, sang patriotic songs, organized interesting contests and were handed gifts devoted to the celebration from the Araratian Patriarchal Diocese.

The participants of the event were also given salty cookies made by the local and European volunteers of WostAYN and the Federation of Youth Clubs of Armenia.

Representatives of the Ministry of Diaspora were also among the guests at the event.

The event became a platform for the dissemination of the national and church holiday among the youth and for the integration of Syrian-Armenian youth in Armenia. It ended with an Armenian round-dance as a glorious example of the collective force of Armenian youth.
