Trial against 26 former state officials connected to Dink murder has begun

The 14th Court of Heavy Crimes of Istanbul approved today the accusatory conclusion for the case of “the negligence of officials in the murder of Hrant Dink”. According to Doğan news agency, the republican prosecutor’s office of Istanbul had sent the 160-page accusatory conclusion to the 14th Court of Heavy Crimes on December 9, writes ermenihaber.am.
Within the scope of the case instigated by the court, 26 state officials, including Head of the Intelligence Division of the General Department of Security Ramazan Akurek, have been charged under the elements of articles on “creating and managing an armed group”, “being a member of an armed terrorist group”, “abusing office”, “falsifying, eliminating or hiding an official document”, “planned murder” and “intention to contribute to the murder with negligence”.
By the court decision, the measure of restraint for the detainees, including former Head of the Investigation Division of the General Department of Security Ramazan Akurek, former Head of the Intelligence Department of Istanbul Ali Fuat Yilmazer and former police officers Muhittin Zanet, Erjan Demir and Ozkan Mumju will continue to be detention throughout the entire trial over the case of the state officials.
