Putin might return Mount Ararat (map)

Turkey is pressing the circle around Syria and, with the support of the US, dares to attack the Russian Federation.

As reports 168.am, according to information that remains unspecified and needs to be treated carefully, anonymous sources report that “Russia is preparing to liquidate the Treaty of Kars and the Treaty of Moscow, as a result of which Turkey may be deprived of up to 30 percent of its territories,” writes Vesti.Lv.

The Treaty of Moscow is a Russo-Turkish treaty on “Friendship and Brotherhood”, which was signed on 16 March 1921 between the Government of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and the Government of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Russia. According to the treaty, the Armenian cities of Kars and Ardahan were passed to Turkey, and Mount Ararat also remained in the territory of Turkey.

According to the treaty, Russia extends it once every 25 years, and now is the period for another signing of the treaty, which Russia can legally refuse to extend. In that case, Turkey will be forced to return tremendous amounts of territories.

It is mentioned that those territories haven’t been inhabited since the Armenian Genocide that took place between 1853 and 1923 since Turkey has always observed the possibility of returning the territories occupied in the 20th century, as a result of which investments aren’t targeted there and there is a lack of modern infrastructures.
