Toronto hosted 10th annual Pomegranate Film Festival dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide

From November 16 to 22, Toronto hosted the 10th annual Pomegranate International Film Festival, which was organized by Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Canada and was dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, reports the RA MFA press service.

Among the attendees were RA Ambassador to Canada Armen Yeganyan, several proclaimed actors and directors from different countries, Canadian public and political figures, as well as several foreign media representatives and members of the local Armenian community.

In his welcome speech, Ambassador Yeganyan mentioned that the tenth film festival was special in that it was being held in the year marking the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. Ambassador Yeganyan expressed gratitude to the several people who had been involved in organizing the festival and granted an award to the organizing committee of the festival on behalf of the Armenian embassy.

Fatih Akin’s film “The Cut” was shown at Regent Cinema in Toronto on the sidelines of the festival.
