European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy congratulates 3 Armenian deputies on their reelection in Turkish parliament

The European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy (EAFJD) congratulated Garo Paylan (HDP), Selina Özuzun Doğan (CHP) and Markar Esayan (AKP) who were reelected in the Turkish parliament as a result of the parliamentary elections in Turkey. “Armenpress” reports the aforementioned referring to the statement of EAFJD. “Despite all the intimidation, the pressure, the arrests and even deadly attacks against party members and supporters, they managed to pass the threshold of 10% and be present in the newly formed Parliament with 59 deputies.

EAFJD expects that the AKP show the necessary responsibility to engage with progressive forces, such as the Peoples’ Democratic Party (Halkların Demokratik Partisi, HDP), in ensuring the rights of all minorities, which constitutes one of the core values of Human Rights, especially for a country which is willing to become a member of the European family,” says the statement.

Turkey’s Justice and Development (AK) Party won in Sunday’s general election. According to Anadolu news agency with 99.58 percent of votes counted, the AK Party led with 49.41 percent votes (316 seats), followed by the Republican People’s Party (CHP) with 25.38 percent (134 seats).
